Laurie Lyon

Lead Singer and Keys

A powerhouse vocalist with an uninhibited soul, Laurie Lyon was born into the musical tapestry of San Francisco. While her journey began behind a piano at age five, her true calling emerged through a path of profound resilience. After a life-altering health battle, Laurie rediscovered her voice—a tool she credits with her healing and her return to the stage.

Laurie’s professional pedigree is deeply rooted in the Gospel and Blues traditions. She spent five years as a standout performer and section leader for the legendary Sista Monica Parker. During this tenure, Laurie graced premier stages including the Monterey Bay Blues Festival and Seattle’s Bumbershoot, and collaborated extensively in the studio, contributing to Sista Monica’s final recordings.

Her versatility as an alto, soprano, and soloist was further honed during her years as a praise team co-lead for Inner Light Ministries, and through collaborations with acclaimed artists like Heather Houston and MaMuse. These diverse experiences have forged a voice of incredible range and texture—one that moves seamlessly between the grit of the Blues, the storytelling of Country, and the soaring melodies of Pop.

Now focusing entirely on her own artistry, Laurie has become a sought-after recording artist for projects across Santa Cruz County. As the frontwoman of her newest project, she brings a captivating, emotive presence to every performance. Influenced by icons ranging from Etta James and Aretha Franklin to Adele and Stevie Nicks, Laurie Lyon doesn't just sing a song—she delivers a message of inspiration that leaves audiences spellbound.

Paul Wilson

Guitar

From the legendary clubs of the Sunset Strip to the vibrant music scene of the Monterey Bay, Paul Wilson has spent his life defining his sound. A graduate of both the California Institute of the Arts and the Guitar Institute of Technology (GIT), Paul blends technical precision with a deep, soulful versatility.

Paul’s career took flight in Los Angeles, where he was a staple at iconic venues like Madame Wong’s and the FM Station. After years of recording and performing in the LA circuit—including his debut album with Nine O’clock News—he returned to Northern California to continue his creative evolution.

Throughout the 90s, Paul’s footprint expanded across the region, from recording a high-energy Hard Rock/Blues/Funk album with Wilson / Hayes in Sacramento to becoming a cornerstone of the Santa Cruz music community. His reputation as a premier guest performer and collaborator led him to front and join several influential local projects, including the Warren Peace Jazz Trio, P.C. Wilson Band, and PWSound.

With a Bachelor of Arts in Music (Improvisational Studies) from San Jose State University, Paul isn't just a performer; he’s a master of the craft. Whether he’s leading the charge in his newest project, Lyon & the Truth, or crafting professional demos through PW Sound Productions, Paul’s playing is defined by a lifelong commitment to the groove.

Gerry Woodling

Drums

Gerry Woodling was born at a very young age in Northern Indiana. He didn't waste any time finding his calling; by the diaper stage, he was already methodically destroying his mother’s cookware with a pair of wooden spoons.

By sixth grade, he graduated to a proper snare drum (which he proceeded to beat the living daylights out of), and by middle school, he had acquired a full kit for the express purpose of terrorizing the neighborhood.

The neighborhood’s loss was the music scene's gain. Those early years of rhythmic "terrorism" evolved into genuine chops, leading Gerry to tour the club circuit for a year and master everything from soul and blues to straight-up rock and roll.

In 1978, Gerry traded the Midwest for the competitive salt air of Santa Cruz, California. He spent the next few decades as a sonic chameleon:

The 80s: Dabbled in the flair of musical theater and rock playhouse productions.

The 90s: Achieved a rhythmic hat-trick, simultaneously anchoring an African Highlife group, a blues outfit, and a rock band.

After a decade-long hiatus starting in 2004, "life circumstances" finally did something right and landed Gerry at a jam session in 2014. The spark was immediate. He returned to the kit with a renewed fire, soon joining forces with local blues legend Lloyd Whitley.

Today, Gerry continues to bring that lifetime of pocket and power to the stage with Lloyd, while embarking on a soul-shaking new chapter with his bandmates in Lyon and The Truth.
